Kreg and I were able to travel to Panama this February. It's amazing how far you can get on a plane for 5 1/2 hours. We went from sub zero temps actual air temps of -20 to the warm and sunny tropics of mid 90's.
Our Agrigold representative and company sponsor these trips and a few select farmers are able to go. We stayed at the Westin Playa Bonita and I must say it was quite a resort. The beach area was unique with the tide coming in and out every 6 hours. The beach was quite expansive at low tide. We really enjoyed it. We also had lots of shells, pretty shells.
Of course the Canal was a big draw and we learned some facts about this as well. The Panamanian people are grateful for the clean water the canal has been able to finance for their country. We actually sat next to a Civil Engineer who graduated from Virginia Tech who has been living in Panama for 2 years and is working on the new locks they are putting in. He loves it there. I guess I was overcome with the beauty of the city itself. The high rises and bustling activity. It is a growing and thriving country. No welfare, food stamps or government funding what so ever. Eveyone gets a job. Most everyone is bilingual except those who's job really doesn't require English.
One of my favorite parts was when we ventured off the resort to a touristy area where we were able to see the harbor and city in the background. It made for great pictures!
I enjoyed the birds and Pelicans were very entertaining, as you can see the resort stood tall and regal in the private bay. We were able to see all the ships in line for their turn in the canal.
While travel is great and an important part of our lives for Kreg and I we enjoy to be back to home sweet home.
